The artist intended this panda to be a look-in-the-mirror for all the visitors to Washington, stating that "I modeled him after the numerous 'Tourist Dads' you see trundling around DC wearing the requisite FBI t-shirt and the camera permanently attached to their bellys." She also stated that her panda "was for the visitors of DC to see themselves and have a chuckle." It worked as intended, even for us locals.
