This multicultural panda was designed such that the geometric patterns were predominantly in reds and yellows, the colors of China. The polygon shapes themselves represent what ancient philosophers believed were the four elements of the universe: fire (triangles), water (circles), earth (rectangles) and air (other irregular shapes). The bear itself (as its name implies) may be a new form of geeometrical polygon -- a 'pandagon'.
